Eid-e-Milad celebrated with religious fervour
Nashik: Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, was celebrated with gaiety and religious fervor in Nashik city on Sunday. People joined the night-long prayers at shrines, mosques and other religious places to celebrate the Eid-e-Milad.
Leaders of several political parties, as well as elected representatives, greeted the Muslim community on the auspicious occasion. A grand procession was taken out from Chowk Mandai. A special prayer for peace and progress of country was made.
Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangre Patil, deputy commissioner of police Amol Tambe, senior police inspector of Bhadrakali police station Sajan Sonawane, MP Hemant Godse and corporator Dr Hemlata Patil felicitated those priests who were leading the procession.
Horse riders led the procession, while people participated with two-wheelers, auto rickshaws and cars. The procession passed through Bagwanpura, Salim Abbas Chowk, Bhoi lane, Kathada, Shivaji Chowk, Naikwadipura, Ajmeri Chowk, Azad Chowk, Pathanpura, Chavata, Budhwar Peth, Adam Shah Chowk, Qazipura, Multanpura, Burud lane, Kokanipura, Dakhnipura, Mahatma Phule Mandai, Khadkali, martyr Abdul Hamid Chowk, Hussain Chowk and via Pinjarghat was culminated at Durgah Sharif.
Banners having photos of religious places were set up on procession route. Flags were also erected. Women as well as small children gathered on the procession route to witness the procession.
Elaborate security arrangements were in place to avoid any untoward incident.
