how to create a +VE 1st impression?

how to create a +VE 1st impression?

- Dr. Latika Vaishak Shanbhag

First impression is the last impression. People judge you in the first 30 seconds. They form an opinion about you based on your appearance, your body language, your attitude, your mannerisms, how you dress, and how you greet. So whether people are in your career or social life, it’s important to know how to create a good first impression.

1. Present yourself appropriately Physical appearance matters; it’s the first clue to create an impression of what you are, so present yourself appropriately. A picture says a thousand words, so dress well to present yourself well.

2. set up an intention

Plan everything in advance i.e. what kind of people you want, what you want to talk about or discuss with them. It’s an incredible ground experience & works very well to focus on what kind of energy you want to have for the event. Set aside time to think. You can do it when you are getting ready or when you are driving over. Planning well in advance is half work done. Jot down priorities and realistically personalize them. Check in on your progress and remain account- able.

3. Be courteous & attentive

Good manners, politeness, being attentive and courteous behavior helps make a good first impression. Be on your best behavior. One modern manner worth mentioning is, “turn Personality Matters off your mobile phone”. What 1st impression you will make if you are already speaking to someone else than the person you are going to meeting for the first time? Your new acquaintance deserves 100% attention.Anything less can ruin the one chance you have at making the first impression.

4. Be open and confident

Be open to listening and understand others’ ideas too. Take the best from everyone and make it work for your success. Silence and confidence speak much louder than words.

5. Get used to your nervous habits

Almost everyone gets a little nervous when meet- ing someone for the first time. We are humans, not robots without emotions. By being aware of your nervous habits you can try to keep them in check.

6. Close on a good note

Show people you really had a great time with them and you would like to see them again. We

all want reassurance in life that is you both had a good time. Keep them wanting you more. But don’t be over clingy though! Avoid being too emotionally dependent so soon. It can make a negative impact.
