Nashik: The city police raided a vehicle at Duttnagar on Peth Road on Wednesday afternoon and seized gutkha worth Rs 3.60 lakh. The suspects have been identified as Jaid Salauddin Shaikh (33, resident of Nilkanth apt., Pathardi Phata) and Sameer Nasruddin Khan (22, resident of Zinit Nagar, Wadalagaon).
Acting on a tip-off, the squad of DCP Laxmikant Patil, ACP Sameer Shaikh, senior police inspector Ananda Wagh, assistant police inspector Sachin Khairnar and others and food and drug administration officials laid a trap near a canal at Duttnagar. After suspected vehicle reached there, they stopped and inspected it.
They found gutkha worth Rs 3.60 lakh in it. The police seized it and also seized a pick-up vehicle worth Rs 6 lakh. Total goods worth Rs 10.50 lakh has been seized. The action against both suspects which have been arrested taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
