Nashik : Two Garud Commandos of the Indian Air Force (IAF) martyred in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday. Dhule’s Milind Khairnar is one of them. Relatives and citizens gathered at his residence in Nashik where his family is currently staying. He originally hailed from Borale in Nandurbar district.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Hajin area of Bandipora district early on Wednesday following information about the presence of militants in the area. The Garud commandos, who were part of the operation for training and experience purpose, were injured in the exchange of fire with the militants. They were evacuated to the 92 Base Hospital here where they died. Two militants were also killed.
Father of Milind Khairnar was in service of Maharashtra State Electricity Company Ltd. at Sakri. Milind Khairnar spent his childhood days at Sakri and Dhule. He was living with his maternal uncle at Dhule and took education there. Khairnar completed his education from SSVPS college and joined the army thereafter . Currently, his family is staying at Shri Ganesh Plaza on Dindori Road in Nashik.
The relatives and citizens of the area gathered at the residence after news about martyrdom of Khairnar was spread. He is survived by his parents, wife and two sons. The elder brother of Milind Kishore Khairnar is in service of Mumbai police. After getting the news he immediately headed to Sakri. Earlier, all family members headed to their native place, informed the district administration.
