Nashik : Just before a special meeting of the directors of Nashik Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) in which a no-trust motion was likely to be passed against its sitting chairman Devidas Pingale for his alleged controversial tenure, Pingale tendered his resignation as chairman to the district sub-registrar yesterday.
The copy of the resignation was handed over to district sub-registrar Neelkanth Kare at the hands of Dilip Thete who represented Pingale. Member Vinayak Malekar was also present.
Pingale cited “judicial proceedings” as the cause for his resignation. In the last week, as many as 15 directors of the Nashik APMC had given a letter to district collector Radhakrishnan B and district sub-registrar Kare seeking permission to convene a special meeting in order to bring a no-confidence motion against its sitting chairman. Pingale’s resignation has thus paved the way for election of a new chairman for the Nashik APMC.
