District receives rain
NASHIK: The city, as well as Nashik district, received rain on Friday evening. Some areas in Kasmade belt and Nandgaon and Yeola tehsils also witnessed a good rainfall. The rain which took rest for the last few days returned to the city on Friday. It started to pour down around 8 pm. Nashikites were feeling humid atmosphere since morning. The clouds gathered suddenly in the night and rain started.
Street vendors and vegetables caught unawares by this sudden rain. They were seen protecting their goods from the rain. Citizens expressed their satisfaction over the rain. The rain finally arrived in Baglan tehsil after one-one-and-half months. Rivers and nullahs in the area were flowing after Friday’s rain. The sowing for Kharif season will be started soon here.
Khamkheda and Bhaur in Deola tehsil also witnessed the rain. Nandgaon also received medium to light rainfall. Manmad received medium rainfall. However, Yeola witnessed heavy rainfall. Dindori and Malegaon also received rain.
However, Trimbakeshwar and Igatpuri tehsils which are known as Konkan of Nashik did not receive the rain.
Meanwhile, the power supply in Nashik Road area was disrupted following heavy rainfall. As many tehsils in the district received the rain, farmers became happy.
The district had witnessed heavy rainfall in the first week of July. As catchment areas of the dams received good rain, water stock in the dams had risen. The sowing which was delayed had gathered momentum. However, the rain disappeared from last week. The weather department has predicted medium to light rainfall in the district in the next period.
