Yoga is useful for prevention and treatment: Dr. Nagendra

NASHIK: Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) organized an online lecture series on the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. The founder of Swami Vivekananda Research Institute Padma Shri Dr H R Nagendra provided his guidance during the lecture series. President of India Medical Council, New Delhi Jayant Devpujari, president of Maharashtra Medical Council and university senate member Dr Ashutosh Gupta and dean of faculty of Ayurved, MUHS Dr Srikant Deshmukh were present.

While guiding on ‘Preventive Treatment and Management of Post Covid Syndrome’, Padma Shri Dr Nagendra said that the importance of yoga, pranayama and Ayurveda has increased while facing the Covid-19 pandemic. Prevention is more important than cure. Those patients who are cured of the virus got a new direction to live due to yoga and pranayam. There is a need to increase yoga literacy in society and practice yoga for better health.

If one follows the rules of Ayurveda and yoga, one gets better health and immunity has increased. Yoga is not a science, it is an art of living a prosperous life. Everyone should learn it. If one used a traditional lifestyle, there will be mental bliss. The work of creating awareness through an online lecture by MUHS is important, he added. President of the India Medical Council Jayant Devpujari said yoga and pranayama give a new life to patients.

Patients experienced the positive effects of yoga during the Covid-19 period. Yoga is great for physical ailments or mental ailments. Everyone should embrace yoga in the current situation and experience health, happiness and prosperity. President of Maharashtra Medical Council Dr Ashutosh Gupta said, “It is important to take care of the diseases that occur post-Covid19. Yoga practice is important for this. Doing yoga always keeps our body healthy and well.”

Dean of the faculty of Ayurved Dr Shrikant Deshmukh said that yoga and Ayurved are the gifts that India has given to the world. Yoga and Ayurved complement each other. Covid-19 will soon be ended. For this, people should follow the government restrictions. Public Relations Officer Dr Swapnil Torne compered the lecture series, while head of the Ayush department Dr Pradip Awale proposed the vote of thanks.
