Treat your body right this monsoon

NASHIK: The monsoon season is round the corner, and residents are excited for the rains and cool breeze after the hot summer that just passed. From drinking tea to reading novels in their galleries, everyone is geared up for the season. However, this season also assists the common cold, runny nose, cough, sore throat, low-grade fever, and water-borne diseases.

Even though one should enjoy this soothing weather, it is equally important to take care of your health, especially when Covid-19 has wreaked havoc in our lives. Paying attention to your diet holds prime importance in monsoon. Eating healthy food helps up in building strong immunity against the virus. Ensure washing all the vegetables and fruits properly before eating as it will prevent you from water-borne diseases. To avoid viral infections, avoid eating street food and prefer home cooked hot meals.

Always opt for hot meals over cold ones. Ensure that your surroundings are hygienic and clean. They need to be free of mosquitoes and insects. Spray insect repellent sprays in balconies, galleries to avoid unwanted insects at home. Apart from insects, ensure that your house isn’t surrounded by a heap of garbage or stagnant water.

Exercise regularly as your joints and muscles will remain strong, and you can avoid unnecessary pain. Also, regular exercising helps in boosting immunity. So it’s a win-win situation for the residents. Diseases like Cholera and Diarrhea are quite rampant during monsoon, and they spread through water. It is important to ensure that you drink clean water. The water should be cleaned and boiled. Avoid drinking juices from roadside vendors during monsoon as it might be risky.

Keep your feet clean and avoid fungal growth. Always keep the whole body dry and fresh to avoid attracting unwanted bacteria. Drink herbal teas with antibacterial properties and wear warm clothes. Visit a doctor if you experience fever, cold, or other symptoms for a longer duration. Amid the pandemic, it is important to pay extra attention to our health and follow these tips.
