Western countries, including Europe, are in lockdown to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. In India too, there has been lockdown since March 22. As a result, many Indian nationals were stranded in Europe and other countries. Among them were those who went abroad to pursue higher education, job or business.

For the last two days, the central government has been airlifting stranded citizens from other countries, which is one of the biggest airlifting exercises undertaken ever.

At midnight on Saturday (Dec. 9), four people from London and two from Singapore arrived at the Mumbai international airport on a special flight. At the airport, the landed persons underwent health check-up and COVID-19 screening before they were brought back to Nashik.

Upon reaching Nashik, the municipal doctors re-examined the health of these foreign returnees and sent them for quarantine of a 14-day period.
