NASHIK: In the coming year, local body elections are being held in many places in the state. The District Collector, Deputy Collector and Tehsildar who have been stationed in the same district for more than three years and also related to Police Inspector, Deputy Superintendent of Police and election work; the State Election Commission has sent a written letter to the government asking it to transfer all other officials immediately.
In the new year, elections for 15 Municipal Corporations, 25 Zilla Parishads, 283 Panchayat Samitis, 213 Nagar Parishads, and Gram Panchayats will be held. Against this backdrop, the State Election Commission has said in its letter that to hold the elections in a fair and fearless atmosphere, it is necessary to transfer the officials stationed in one place.
A clear order has been issued to immediately transfer the officers who have completed three years of service in one place till March 31, 2022. Consider the officers who are posted in the home district. Officials of district administration, revenue, and police administration are directly and indirectly involved in the formation of elected ward structure and voter list.
The letter said that for the elections to be held fairly, it is necessary to replace the sitting officials. This letter from the Election Commission may raise the bar of change before the elections.
