Nashik: Railway Passengers’ Association has demanded resumption of general ticket and monthly season ticket (MST) pass service for daily commuters. As the railway administration has closed the pass facility since over a year and a half period, this has given a financial blow to thousands of working class employees in the district including Nashik city who do daily up-down train journey for work.
A letter was submitted to Railway Manager RK Kuthar on behalf of Railway Passengers’ Association. The statement said, In order to prevent the outbreak of corona, the CR train services were closed since March 22, 2020. In the meantime, special trains were launched in May 2020. After that gradually all the trains are coming back on tracks and these trains are with reservation ticket facility.
“But these reservation tickets are not getting available on time. There are also government, semigovernment employees and traders travelling from Manmad, Nashik to Igatpuri, Kalyan, Mumbai. They don’t get these reservation and also can’t afford them,” it said.
Some citizens have to go to Mumbai for treatment. In Nashik, Manmad, some family heads do small jobs to support their families. They have to travel from Nashik to Manmad-Igatpuri every day. Now the number of corona patients has decreased. Citizens are also going out for jobs and business, while government and semi-government offices, private establishments are working with fifty per cent attendance, but the railway administration however so far did not issue general tickets and monthly passes.
