ST owes Rs 200 cr to 7500 retirees

NASHIK: As many as 7500 retired employees of ST Corporation across the state have not received post-retirement leave and pay increment difference from the MSRTC yet. About Rs 200 crore is due and many retired employees have been making round in the ST Corporation’s divisional office for the last three years to get their outstanding dues. Maharashtra ST Employees Congress office bearers met Minister of State for Transport Satej Patil yesterday.

At this time, he assured that the government will pay the arrears as soon as possible. In this context, a meeting with the retired employees will be held soon and other issues will be resolved, the minister assured. Among the retired ST employees and officers, about 80 staff has been reported to have died, including a large number of deaths due to corona.

While there is a circular for immediate payment of all post-retirement dues, it is unjustice to the retired employees and officers of the corporation to have not received their dues. Basically the salary of ST employees is lower than other government departments. As a result, they are also paid less after retirement. These retirees are now in trouble due to nOKn receipt of arrears. Some of these employees have been treated at a private hospital for corona.

They did not even have the money for drug treatment. The state government should provide funds to all retired workers and officers to get the pension money with interest. Such a demand was also made by General Secretary Shrirang Barge, Joint General Secretary Chandrakant Kakade and Working President DA Lipane-Patil on behalf of the organisation.
