Salary wait for ST staff gets longer

NASHIK: Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees’ salary for the month of May is yet to be released. Even though the government has recently paid Rs 600 crore to the ST Corporation, 5800 ST employees in Nashik district are deprived of their salaries. After receiving the amount from the government, it was expected that the salary would be credited to the bank account of the employees from Thursday (June 10), but it turned out to be a fallacy.

The salaries were not paid till June 13. ST’s passenger service was once again disrupted due to the second wave of corona. Due to the drop in the ST’s income, the employees have to be deprived of their salaries for the month of May. Meanwhile, a meeting was held four days ago under the aegis of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Transport Minister Adv Anil Parab to review the financial condition of the MSRTC.

The meeting also agreed to pay around Rs 600 crore for staff salaries. Although the issue of salaries of the employees seemed to have been resolved after the meeting, it is surprising that the salaries have not been paid yet. The state government should provide funds for the salaries of ST employees for the next six months. The unions have also demanded financial assistance to the ST Corporation for the salaries of the employees till the resumption of ST transport.
