Rs 50 cr scam exposed in Agri dept

NASHIK: While carrying out various development works through schemes for farmers, an incident has come to light in Nashik where officials and employees of the Agriculture Department have conspired to commit corruption to the tune of Rs. 50 crores.

A case has been registered against 16 officers and employees of Peth taluka police station in this regard. Yogendra alias Yogesh Suresh Sapte (resident of Hedpada, Ekdare, Tal Peth, Dist Nashik) has lodged a complaint in this regard.

According to the complaint, the accused Naresh Shantaram Pawar, Dagdu Dharu Patil, Sanjay Shyamrao Patil, Vitthal Uttam Randhe, Deepak Piraji Kusalkar, Dilip Dnyandev Phulpagar, Agriculture Supervisor Dilip Audumbar Waghchaure (resident of Solapur), Mukund Karbhari Chaudhary (resident of Umbri), Kiran Sitaram Kadlag (near Kadlag), Pratibha Yadavrao Maghade (Dindori), Radha Chintaman Sahare (Surgana), Agriculture Officer Vishwanath Bajirao Patil (Pardhade), Ashok Narayan Gharte (Sakri, Dhule), MB Mahajan (resident of Peth), Sardar Singh Umed Singh Rajput (resident of Chalisgaon) and Sheelanath Jagannath Pawar (resident of Manor) in concurrence approved various schemes of the government from 2011 to 2017 and withdrew tenders.

The group used Complainant Sapte and others to file tenders in their names. From witnesses and complainant, the suspects took signature and thumb impressions on Rs.100 stamps, cheques and other papers. Similarly, by forgery of misappropriating documents withdrawn Rs 3.17 crores. In this period, they took Rs. 50.72 crores of various schemes sanctioned for Peth taluka and the beneficiaries, the government were misled and deceived.

A case has been registered against 16 persons at Peth police station based on a criminal inquiry application filed by Sapte in the court of First Class Magistrate Peth. Further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Inspector of Police Sandeep Vasave.
