Relief for commuters amid ST strike

NASHIK: Amidst the ongoing strike of MSRTC employees, the passengers have got some relief as the ordinary buses (Lal Pari) have started plying on the road in rural areas of Yeola, Lasalgaon, and Niphad of the district.

The strike has been going on since last month. Despite all sorts of assurances from the government, the employees are adamant on the issue of merger. The case will be heard in the High Court on December 20. The strike is likely to continue till then. However, as some work has started in 128 depots in the state, a positive response is also seen in two talukas in Nashik.

In the meantime, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has slapped dismissal notices on 230 placing staff who’ve been suspended. During the day, 21,644 staff reported to work, serving to MSRTC function 2,519 buses until 6 pm. An MSRTC spokesperson mentioned that of their 250 bus depots, 122 are actually purposeful.
