Pre-monsoon rains lash city, adjoining Dindori, Trimbak

Trees uprooted, hailstorms hit crops

NASHIK :

Pre-monsoon rains accompanied by thunderstorm lash parts of Nashik on Wednesday evening. Many parts of the city and its neighbouring areas including Dindori and Trimbakeshwar witnessed heavy rains accompanied by stormy winds and hailstorm.

A banyan tree was uprooted and two cars were damaged at Nehru Chowk in Pimpalpar area, while torrential rains accompanied by hailstorm and stormy winds lashed western part of Dindori damaging crops like bitter gourd, cauliflower, cabbage, and summer fruit watermelon. The rains also badly hit onion produce in the areas.

At Harshul in Trimbak tehsil of the western belt of Nashik taluka, rains lashed heavily.

The western part of Dindori witnessed hailstorm after 4 p.m. which was accompanied by stormy winds. Pandane, Ahivantwadi, Umrale, Chausale, Haste, Pimpri, Achla, Devsane and Punegaon were among the villages that were badly affected by the pre-monsoon hailstorm.

Heavy rains also lashed Dindori city and surrounding areas including Nalegaon, Golshi, Nanashi and Jambutake.

Heavy rains coupled with strong winds also  damaged agricultural commodities which were placed in open. The rains also hit fodder placed in the open, while vineyards and onion crops suffered huge damages.
