NASHIK: Nashik boy Swayam Patil has been honoured with the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award 2022 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for excellence in the sport of swimming. PM Modi also gave digital certificates to the winners of PMRBP 2022 using block chain technology.
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present at the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award 2022 presentation ceremony organised online at the District Collectorate. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani was present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award is given to children who have made exceptional achievements in six areas — education, sports, arts and culture, bravery, social service and innovation. The award has been presented to 29 children across the country through online mode.
Swayam Patil, a 14-year-old boy from the district, has crossed the 14-km creek from Elephant Cave to Gateway of India in 4 hours and 9 minutes. Noting this, the Central Government honoured him with the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award 2022 in the field of sports. For the first time this year, a digital certificate and a cash prize of Rs. one lakh was awarded to the winners.
Swayam has already won Limca Book of Record 2017, National Award for Disability Empowerment 2018, Wonder Book of International Record 2018, District Sports Award 2020 and Worlds Record India. District Collector Suraj Mandhare felicitated Swayam Patil and his parents after the virtual award presentation ceremony.
District Collector Suraj Mandhare, Deputy Commissioner Women and Child Development Chandrasekhar Pagare, District Women and Child Development Officer Ajay Phadol, District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak, District Child Protection Officer Ganesh Kanwade, Swayam’s mother Vidya Patil and father Vilas Patil were also present at the virtual ceremony.
