Panchavati police raided a hotel where liquor was being sold though lock down has been in force. Liquor stock worth Rs 1.83 lakh has been seized from there.
The action was taken against hotel New Punjab in Malegaon Stand area. Police arrested owner of the hotel Akash Sandip Sharma (24, resident of Jajoowadi, Indrakund, Panchavati) and worker Devraj Ashokrao Devkate (26, resident of Sainagar, Amravati, currently staying at New Punjab hotel). A case against both of them has been registered.
Assistant inspector Sandip Chopade of Panchavati police received an input that liquor was being sold illegally in hotel New Punjab though curfew is in place Accordingly, under the guidance of senior inspector Ashok Bhagat, police raided the hotel.
A foreign liquor stock worth Rs 1.83 lakh was seized from the hotel. A total of 1,185 bottles of liquor have been seized. In addition, Rs 460 and two DVRs have also been seized. A case in connection with this has been registered for violation of the curfew.
Assistant inspector Sandip Chopade, assistant sub-inspector Sarode, Deore and Navnath Aher took part in the operation.
