One girl child, ten saplings

NASHIK: Various schemes are implemented by the government to make the citizens aware about forestation and to increase the forest cover on the land. Accordingly, under Kanya Van Samruddhi Yojana, ten saplings were provided to the parents in the name of the girl child born in Ghanshet, Bhaygaon and Kopurli Brudruk villages of Peth area under the Social Forestry programme.

As a result of this unique initiative, the girls will have fond memories of these trees as they grow up. In all the above three villages, girls child born between 2019-20 and 2020-21, their parents were given ten saplings each in the name of the girl child under Social Forestry C D Bharmal, Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry and Prashant Khairnar, Range Forest Officer, Peth handed over five teak and five fruit saplings.

In addition to the Kanya Van Samrudhi Yojana, saplings were also given to the relatives in memory of the deceased elder. Bharmal while guiding the villagers said, If it is someone’s birthday or wedding in the village, they should plant a sapling to make memorable that day.

This will increase the tree cover in the village area and create a love for trees among the villagers, he said while making an appeal. On the occasion, citizens were shown how to dig a pit and plant seedlings. Forest Ranger DP Jadhav, M M Jadhav, B A Bangal as well as Sarpanch of the concerned villages, Police Patil, gram panchayat members, gramsevak, Talathi, beneficiaries of the Yojana and villagers were present
