NMC to install CCTV cameras in crematoriums in city

NASHIK :

Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to install CCTV cameras in crematoriums and graveyards in Nashik city to trace those who attended funerals. It has been found that though there are restrictions over the number of people attending the funerals due to the Covid-19 outbreak, people gather in large numbers. Those who attended funerals of corona positive have been found to be infected.

NMC has to take this decision considering the rise in the number of corona infected patients. Many who attended funerals outside of the district have been found infected. A woman from the Satpur colony had attended a funeral in Chinchgavhan village in Malegaon. She had found to be infected. Those ten persons who came in her contact had turned positive. An elderly person who had attended a funeral in Mumbai also found positive after his death. 13 who came in touch with him have been found infected.

On the backdrop of this, it has been decided to install CCTV cameras in all crematoriums and graveyards in the city. These cameras will help in tracing those who attend a funeral.

After the installation of CCTV cameras, safety issues in crematoriums and graveyards will be addressed. This will also help in controlling the crowd. If anyone is infected while attending the funeral of the positive patients, other people who attend the funeral can be traced and quarantined. CCTV cameras will prove helpful for this, said Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishna Game.
