Nashik: Members of various Employees’ Unions in the district will participate in a daylong nationwide strike called today on January 8.
Those who will take part in the strike include all the employees of the central and state government, semi-government bodies, Zilla Parishad, Nashik Municipal Corporation, teachers, non-teaching staff, workers in the private industry, contract workers and unorganized sector workers, banks and insurance workers, postal workers, industrial workers, Anganwadi-Asha employees, as well as municipalities and village panchayat employees. Essential service personnel is excluded.
Security personnel will be working wearing a black ribbon as a protest. The govt employees will press for their demands which include revision in the Seventh Pay Commission’s ‘grade pay’ system, an extension of an old pension scheme for employees appointed after November 2005, 30 percent quota in promotion for clerical staff, implementation of dearness allowance from July 19 and five days week among others.
A march will be taken out from Gold Club ground to district collectorate. Around 20 thousand people will participate in this march, stated Dr. D L Karad, national vice president, CITU.
