NASHIK: Nashik Road railway station, which is a reputed station in the country will soon get a facelift. Don’t be surprised if the old look of this station is gone and it becomes like a three storeyed corporate office. Plans are afoot to bring the scattered offices together as a one-stop shop, as well as set up a business mall. A six-member team of Railway Land Development Authority recently surveyed Nashik Road railway station in this regard.
The authority has started commercial development of various railway stations in collaboration with reputed Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Now it’s the turn of Nashik Road. The first survey in Bhusawal division was done at Nashik Road railway station, informed Station Master RK Kuthar. A modern commercial mall and waiting rooms, terminals, railway office with corporate look will be developed on this land. Plans are afoot to bring the longstretched railway station offices into a single multistorey building. So this future railway station will be very different.
TCS has been enlisted to help make this look different. After submitting the survey report to TCS, plan of action will be executed accordingly. The team of the authority inspected the parcels, ticket booking, engineering, freight, commerce department etc. at the station and discussed with the officials. The team surveyed the number of passengers traveling from Nashik Road station in the last ten years, how many goods were transported, how many passengers came to Kumbh Mela, how many trains run etc.
