Nashik may get four parcel wagons

NASHIK: Union Minister Dr. Bharati Pawar has demanded increase in the number of parcel wagons from Lasalgaon for the benefit of farmers in Nashik district. The minister held discussions with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and demanded additional four wagons to the Kisan Railway service so that a large quantity of agricultural produce could be produced and transported from the area and the farmers acroas the district could get the benefit.

Pawar said that the response of the Railway Minister was positive. “Increase the number of parcel wagons of Kisan Rail at Lasalgaon station and reopen the closed railway halts during the corona period,” she demanded. Lasalgaon Agricultural Produce Market Committee is a hub for buying and selling of onions, husks, oilseeds, pomegranates, fruits and all kinds of vegetables.

Grapes are grown here along with agricultural products. The Kisan Rail was started to make these agricultural produce available in the market across  the country. The Kisan Railway is transporting onions, pomegranates, fruits and all kinds of vegetables and perishables from Lasalgaon railway station to traders and consumers in various states. However, the Central Railway (CR) had earlier provided two parcel wagons to the Kisan Rail at Lasalgaon station.

However, for the last 10 days, the Central Railway has reduced the number of parcel wagons by two of the Kisan rail at Lasalgaon station and has made only one parcel van available. Therefore, the traders and farmers here are having difficulty in despatching their onions, pomegranates, fruits and all other types of vegetables for sale in other states by this train service. As a result, Dr Pawar has brought all these situations to the notice of the Railway Minister for favourable action.
