Nashik Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) will be reopened from today (May 29) after three days. A meeting of board of directors of the market committee was held with the city Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangre Patil on Thursday and it has been decided to reopen the market committee. Retail sale of vegetables at the entrance of the committee has been stopped and it has been decided to allow entry after check up by a team of two doctors.
A trader in the market committee who was resident of Ramnagar, Peth Road had succumbed to corona this week. On the backdrop of this, chairman Sampatrao Sakale and board of directors had decided to close the market committee for three days between May 26 to 28.
In a meeting, police have instructed to follow social distancing and government guidelines and do not allow to enter anyone in the committee except traders, farmers and certain number of labourers. Conduct thermal scanning at the entrance and if any suspect is found he will be send to the hospital after check up by municipal doctors.
It was also decided in the meeting that there should be no retail sale in the market committee. The corporation has decentralized vegetable markets at 106 places in the city. Planning should be done to deliver the vegetables to these vendors at the same place. Only the wholesale market should continue. There should be only one person in a vehicle with the farmer coming to the market committee. Police security should be increased in places where other persons should not be allowed to enter.
Code of conduct in the market committee is like this:
*Retail vegetable sale near entrance is completely shut
*Entry for one farmer and one driver
*Thermal scanning of all to be conducted
*A team of two doctors will conduct check up if any suspect is found
*There will be no entry without work.
After death of a trader due to corona, some who had got in touch with him had been found infected. As a result, market committee was closed for three days. As per government order market committee cannot be closed for more days. On the backdrop of this, a meeting with held with the city Commissioner of Police and he issued some important instructions about start of the market committee. Accordingly, the market committee will be opened from today.
