NASHIK: A three-year-old girl was killed after a leopard attacked her in Kananwadi village in Igatpuri tehsil of the district. The victim has been identified as Gauri Gurunath Khadke. According to a detailed news report, the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the girl was sitting with her mother at the entrance of her house. Suddenly, a leopard pounced on Gauri and dragged her away with lightning speed to the forest. The parents and grandfather of the victim were there.
The members shouted and ran behind the leopard to rescue the girl. After dragging the girl to some distance, the leopard left her in a shrub and escaped to the forest. After getting the news, forest personnel rushed to the spot. The injured girl was immediately admitted to a rural hospital at Ghoti. After first-aid, she was admitted to the district civil hospital at Nashik.
However, the girl succumbed to the injuries around 1.45 on Wednesday, informed the medical officials. Meanwhile, forest department personnel visited the spot and appealed to the villagers to take care.
