Mayor warns of legal action

NASHIK: “There should be hospitals like Mumbai and Pune in Nashik city. The quality of health services provided there should be similar to that of a city hospital. They should serve the patients and charge the bills as per the rules. We will stay with them but if they are exploiting the patients by charging additional bills, then, of course, such a hospital will be locked by the Corporation,” said Mayor Satish Kulkarni.

The issue is being discussed after a half-naked agitation in a hospital four days ago. The Municipal Commissioner has also ordered an inquiry in this regard and the BJP delegation discussed the matter in detail with the Municipal Commissioner on Thursday. Mayor Kulkarni.

MLA Devyani Pharande, BJP city president Girish Palve and Municipal Corporation house leader Satish Sonawane discussed the issue with the chief auditor of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) Sonakamble, the auditor appointed for Wockhardt hospital and the director and representatives of the Hospital at Ramayan bungalow. It has been directed that immediate action should be taken against the concerned hospital in a definite manner.

A meeting was held with Municipal Commissioner Kailas Jadhav In connection with this. While Covid patients are being treated in hospitals in Nashik city, hospitals run by some corporate companies are looting the patients and the image of all doctors in the city is maligned due to this. In fact, some doctors are working hard and trying to cure patients. People have respect for them. The officials held discussions with the Municipal Commissioner to draw attention to the fact that the corporate hospitals in the city have been charging exorbitant bills from the patients.

Appointment of 12 accounts officers

Municipal Commissioner Jadhav said that in the present situation, 12 auditors have been appointed from other departments of the government to control the audit staff assigned to check the hospital bills and to ensure that they function properly or not. He said that this would bring relief to the people. It was suggested that a new three-member committee including the chief auditor should be constituted to control them.

Helpline to be started

Citizens should register their grievances by calling the helpline number of the Corporation. For the convenience of the citizens, a new helpline centre will be set up at Ramayan bungalow, the Mayor’s residence in the next two-three days and citizens should register their grievances immediately, Mayor Satish Kulkarni stated.
