An Assistant Police Inspector(API) allegedly committed suicide on Saturday by shooting himself from his service revolver in the premises of police headquarters in Malegaon city of this district. The deceased has been identified as Azhar Shaikh, who was a cop from the Malegaon City Police.

According to sources, the shocking incident occurred in the evening when senior police officials were scrambling to attend a meet for chalking out a strategy to cripple the COVID-19 crisis.
At that time, a loud sound reverberated in the air when Azhar shot himself in the headquarters premises. The reason behind the suicide is not yet known.
