Central Railways (CR) on February 6, 2020, broke its own record of loading freights. It previously had held the record of loading 3845 wagons in a day. The record was broken by CR with loading a whooping 3927 wagons in a single day on February 6. It marked the highest ever freight loading.
CR has tweeted about it and shared a photo of onion loading in wagons. The target has been achieved with the loading of different commodities like sugar, cement, container, coal and onion from Lasalgaon. Chief Public Relation Officer of CR, Shivaji Sutar informed about the achievement and contribution of onions.
CR loaded 4 rakes of onion from Lasalgaon which carried approximately 12,000 tonnes of onion to different places. Each rake is made up of around 58 wagons and has a carrying capacity of approximately 3750 tonnes. From Lasalgaon around 230 to 240 wagons were loaded with onion on a single day.
