Jawan dies while serving in J&K

Nashik: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Appa Madhukar Mate (36) from Adgaon in Nashik district died due to cardiac arrest while serving on duty at a post situated at 70 km distance from Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir.

With this news, a pall of gloom descended on Adgaon and his mortal remains will be brought in Nashik today (Jan 9), informed the relatives. Appa Mate suffered a cardiac arrest due to a lack of oxygen and died on Tuesday (January 7) night. His relatives were informed about his death late Tuesday night itself.

Appa Mate was a farmer. As per his father’s wish, he joined the forces in 2006 after completion of primary and secondary education from New English school at Adgaon and HSC from KTHM college. As his service bond ended last year, he extended it for four years.

Appa was transferred a month ago at Srinagar from Lucknow. Before joining the duty, he was on 15-day holidays in December He is survived by mother Mhalsabai Mate, wife Manisha (30), son Pratik (11) and brother Bhagirath.
