Industrialists demand the supply of oxygen

NASHIK: Works in steel and fabrication industries are stalled due to a lack of oxygen. Industrialists are demanding to supply 50% oxygen minimum keeping in mind the requirement of the industries in the district. Ambad Industries and Manufacturers Association has also taken up the matter with the District Collector. Due to the nonavailability of oxygen, 100 per cent of work in steel and fabrication units in various industrial areas in the district has come to a standstill.

Those industries based on it are seen affected due to this. Against the backdrop of Covid-19, the oxygen supply of the industrial sector has been stopped. About 2,000 extra cylinders have been deposited with the government. The number of Covid-19 patients in the hospital has been declining in the last few days and the number of patients on oxygen has also been declined sharply.

Industrialists say that around 50 to 60 per cent oxygen has left after fulfilling the requirement of the medical sector. The district administration should provide 50 per cent of the oxygen to the industry and keep the rest as a buffer, industrialists demanded to District Collector Suraj Mandhare.

The District Collector will announce the decision today in response to the demand of the industrialists. Those industrialists based on oxygen in Satpur, Ambad, Gonde, Sinnar, Dindori, Igatpuri and other industrial areas are shut. Other industries dependent on these industries are also in trouble.
