Increasing crime, a big concern for city

NASHIK: In November, a crime was reported in various police stations of the city at an average of every 3 hours, according to the daily crime report of the police. A total of 267 crimes were registered in November, including five murders, 14 robberies, and 75 cases of vehicle thefts. Is the police administration focusing only on counseling and helmet rule enforcement? Such a question is being raised by common people.

In the last week of November, three cases of murder were reported on every alternate day. In this, the murder of BJP office-bearer Amol Ighe in the early hours had created an atmosphere of fear among the citizens. In many criminal cases, it is revealed that crimes have been committed for petty reasons.

A total of 14 cases of looting have been registered in the city, in which 17.5 tola gold worth Rs 5.32 lakh has been seized in 10 separate incidents. Before Diwali, the police had arrested a man suspected of looting 57 tolas of gold. Other suspects were also arrested after gathering information from them; However, it is clear from the report that the chain snatching incidents are not under control.

Statistics show that a total of 75 vehicle thefts were reported in November at various police stations after the markets were opened. Taking advantage of the crowds in the market on the occasion of Dussehra and Diwali, the thieves have taken away the citizens’ vehicles. A total of 75 vehicle theft cases have been registered in 12 police stations of the commissionerate’s jurisdiction.

Police have started various campaigns in the city from August 15 to enforce helmet rule, ‘No helmet, no petrol’, counseling for helmetless drivers, ‘No helmet, No co-operation.’ While the police crackdown is being hailed, on the other hand, the rising number of vehicle theft cases in the city adds to the worries of the police.

Five murders in one month

Five murders in a single month have created an atmosphere of panic in the city. The city police’s crime department is failing to deter criminals from committing crimes, even if it does catch suspects. Police patrols, a declining network of day-to-day intelligence are being blamed.
