Heavy rains lash district; 101 mm rainfall recorded

NASHIK :

Heavy rains lashed Nashik city and district on Friday for half-an-hour. This has led to increase in water level in river Godavari. Rainwater was accumulated on many roads in the city.

The showers began in the afternoon and continued for one-and-half-hour. Roads in the city were flooded with rainwater. Low-lying areas were inundated with rainwater. It was difficult for drivers to drive their vehicles.

As the intensity of rains was more in catchment areas of Gangapur dam, the water level in the Godavari was increased and water level touched the knee of Dutondya Maruti statue, which is considered a measure to check the water level. Gandi Talao, Ramkund and Laxman Kund in Ramkund area were submerged.

Meanwhile, many enjoyed the rains at terrace of their homes and clicked selfies.
