Govt opens tourist places in district

NASHIK: Citing drop in the rate of Covid-19 infection and the number of active patients, District Guardian Minister Chhagan Bhujbal yesterday announced reopening of tourist spots in the district. He made this announcement in a Covid review meeting. The number of positive cases had been on the rise since last month on the backdrop of new Omicron variant; as a precaution, open tourist spots in the district were closed.

Although the number of patients in the district was increasing, the recovery rate was relatively high. “On this backdrop, steps are being taken to revive tourism in the district and restrictions on tourist destinations are being lifted following the Covid-19 rules,” said Guardian Minister Bhujbal. Meanwhile, the number of patients has come down to 15,500 from 18,500 last week, down by 3,000.

The positivity rate has also come down from 41 per cent to 27 per cent. In addition, there is not a single patient with Mucormycosis in Nashik city. On the other hand, there is a picture that schools have reopened and children are not found infected anywhere.

Particularly in rural parts school children are facing difficulties and hence it has been decided to start a hostel. Due to low vaccination in Malegaon, instructions have been given to increase vaccination. As the vaccine is now available in medical stores, the government will no longer provide the vaccine for free. Therefore, free vaccine should be taken as soon as possible, appealed Guardian Minister Bhujbal.

Vaccination vans

Mobile vaccination vans are being sent to other talukas including Yeola, Nandgaon, Niphad, Sinnar, especially Malegaon. It is being used to vaccinate people in rural and tribal areas.

8,900 cases sanctioned: Mandhare

As many as 13520 legal heirs of patients who died due to Covid-19 have submitted applications for exgratia grant. Out of which 8959 applications have been verified and cases have been sanctioned, informed District Collector Suraj Mandhare adding that the remaining cases will be taken care of immediately and these cases will be submitted to the government.

District Collector Suraj Mandhare, City Police Commissioner Deepak Pandey, Municipal Commissioner Kailas Jadhav, District Superintendent of Police Sachin Patil, ZP CEO Lina Bansod and District Civil Surgeon Dr Ashok Thorat participated in the discussion by elaborating on the current situation.
