FRP on milk, prices to go up

NASHIK: It has been decided on Friday to increase milk purchase rates to restore the rates that milk producers were received before the lockdown and to implement a law making FRP applicable to it. It will also be applicable to co-operative and private milk societies and companies. This solution has been found out by Dairy Development Minister Sunil Kedar. An important meeting was held at the ministry on Friday to address the milk producers’ demands in the state.

In the meeting, milk producers demanded to restore the rate of Rs 35 per litre which was before the lockdown. Make a law applicable to private and cooperative milk societies so that milk producers cannot be looted in future. Like sugar business, implement Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for milk business and adopt one state, one brand policy to prevent brand war in the state. The settlement was reached after a stormy discussion between farmers’ representatives, milk unions and representatives of private milk companies.
