NASHIK: In connection with the launch of an airline from Nashik to Kolkata, an airline recently visited the Nashik airport and conducted a test. There are also reports of interactions with business representatives. It is understood that the airline intends to launch flights to Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata.
Nashik Airport is included in the Central Government’s ‘Udan’ scheme and at least 40 per cent seats are being provided at discounted rates to Ahmedabad, Pune, Belgaum, and Delhi Airlines.
As there is no flight plan at Shirdi airport, commercial rates are charged. Therefore, passengers traveling from Shirdi to Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Dhule, and Aurangabad airport are now preferring Nashik to avail the concessions. As a result, the number of passengers at Nashik Airport is increasing.
SpiceJet is planning to launch flights from Nashik to Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Goa in March. Considering the passenger response from Nashik, other airlines are also looking forward to providing services from this airport.
