e-library facility at SaVaNa soon

NASHIK: The exchange section of the public library Sarvajsnik Vachanalay Nashik (SaVaNa) has been shifted to Late Madhavrao Limaye Hall. This updated section will be available to readers soon. It will have e-library facility. This information was given by Jaiprakash Jategaonkar, Principal Secretary, SaVaNa.

Meanwhile, under the National Pandulipi (manuscripts) project of the Ministry of Culture, the organisation has digitally converted seven lakh pages of about 10,000 pothis. With the shifting, the books, novels will also be counted anew. Apart from this, there is a proposal for a separate study halls for women, a research center and for a separate reference books. The new design will allow the reader to select book of his choice easily.

“Just like parents go to the mall with their child, they should bring their child to the library. This will create a new generation of children’s relationship with books,” such an appeal was made at a press conference organised by SaVaNa. Principal secretary of SaVaNa Jayaprakash Jategaonkar, Working President Sanjay Karanjkar, Adv Bhanudas Shauche, Devdutt Joshi, Adv Abhijit Bagde, Vedashree Thigale were present on the occasion.

Library on Wheels

One of the negative fallouts from the all-pervasive social media is that it has almost killed the reading habit. To revive this habit, a Library on Wheels to reach at every doorstep has been planned by SaVaNa. The primary objective is to bring this WhatsApp and social media generation back to books and rekindle the reading habit and culture among them.
