The state government provided Shiv Bhojan plate at Rs. 5 to prevent the poor from starving during the corona crisis. During the period from May 1st May to 25th, around 27,28,502 Shivbhojan thalis have been distributed from 822 Shivbhojan Kendras in the state at the rate of Rs. 5 per thali. Also, action is being taken against shopkeepers who sell at inflated rates due to scarcity.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s had Shiv Bhojan Thali as an ambitious plan, which is now proving fruitful in crisis. The Chief Minister’s aim was to provide adequate food to the poor at reasonable rates. In the corona crisis, Shiv Bhojan Thali has become a big support for the poor.
In the lockdown, the price of Shivbhojan Thali was decreased from Rs 10 to Rs 5 so that the poor without having enough money and will not stay hungry. Also, the number of Shiv Bhojan Kendras was increased across the state. Meals were provided to the poor through Shiv Bhojan Kendras at 822 places across the state.
As a result, the hunger of labourers, migrants, poor and the needy was averted. From 1st May till now 27,28,502 Shivbhojan thalis have been distributed.
