Disburse loans through nationalized banks: Pawar

NASHIK: No farmer in Nashik district should be deprived of crop loan, said District Guardian Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, while Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar directed that farmers in Nashik district should be given relief by disbursing maximum loans through nationalized banks. He was speaking at a meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Deputy CM Pawar regarding crop loan disbursement and other issues of the Nashik District Central Co-operative Bank.

NDCC Bank is a reputed bank in the state. The bank has witnessed a lot of irregularities and corruption in the recent days. Therefore, the Board of Directors of the Bank has been dismissed and an administrator has been appointed. The district bank has received Rs 920 crore under Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Debt Relief Scheme 2019. Out of this, only Rs 231.51 crore crop loans have been made available for disbursement.

Therefore, in view of the frequent complaints of farmers, a meeting was held at the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office at the request of District Guardian Minister and State Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Chhagan Bhujbal. Speaking on the occasion, Pawar said that they should fulfill the objective of providing loans through the District Bank as set by the government. Other lending should be done with the help of nationalized banks.

He opined that loans should be provided to the farmers through this channel. There are 453 different co-operative societies in Nashik district. In order to sustain the co-operative movement in the rural areas, these institutions should remain alive, said Minister Bhujbal.

The meeting was also attended by Co-operation Minister Balasaheb Patil, Additional Chief Secretary of Co-operation Department Arvind Kumar, Co-operation Commissioner Anil Kawade, District Collector Suraj Mandhare, State Co-operative Bank Administrative Chairman Vidyadhar Anaskar, Managing Director Deshmukh, Nashik Bank Administrator Ansari, Co-operative Society Co-Registrar Jyoti Latkar and District Deputy Registrar Satish Khare.
