Sambhaji Brigade on Wednesday wrote to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray demanding to declare as ‘martyrs’ the doctors and other medical staff who have died while treating COVID-19 infected patients in different hospitals of Maharashtra.
The Maratha outfit president Santosh Shinde said that few doctors and hospital staff had lost their lives in the line of duty in recent past and therefore, the state government should honour them by declaring them as ‘martyrs’.
He said that they were the real warriors who fought to save the lives of a number of patients infected by coronavirus throughout the country.
Shinde also demanded to provide insurance cover for working journalists who are providing day-to-day updates by putting their own lives at risk.
