Cantonment gears up for Smart Deolali

DEOLALI CAMP: The Deolali Cantonment Board, which ranked fourth in the country and numero uno in the State under 'Swachh Survekshan 2021', has geared for a Smart Deolali to improve its rank and accordingly issued guidelines with respect to wet and dry waste disposal along with creating health and hygiene awareness among the citizens.

The Health Department of the Cantonment Board has undertaken a door-to-door visit campaign to create awareness about cleanliness. As part of the campaign, under the guidance of Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rahul Gajbhiye, Deputy CEO Sanjay Sonawane, Superintendent of Health Aman Gupta, Assistant Health Inspector Shivraj Chavan, and Atul Mundhe reached the doorsteps of the citizens and demonstrated through practical that how the waste should be segregated into dry and wet and drop into the garbage carrier (Ghantagadi).

In addition to this, the board is also trying to solve various problems the citizens face in their day-to-day life. It has sought people’s cooperation in this regard. Living up to its slogan “Clean Deolali, Green Deolali’, the Deolali Cantonment Board had secured the fourth position in the Central government’s annual survey of cleanliness i.e., 'Swachh Survekshan 2021'.

Out of the total 62 cantonment boards in the country, the Deolali Cantonment had secured the fourth position in their category and had bagged the first position in Maharashtra. The board had done a phenomenal job as they improved from 52nd rank in 2020 to 4th in 2021 i.e., moved up by 48 points to create a name for itself.
