NASHIK: MP Hemant Godse demanded that Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, who sacrificed his life for the independence of the country, should be honoured with the Bharat Ratna award. On the occasion of Savarkar’s birth anniversary which was celebrated at Bhagur in a very simple manner, MP Godse said that the Savarkar family was the only one in the history of the world who sacrificed for the freedom struggle of the country.
The demand has been made twice in the Lok Sabha and the Center is expected to make a decision as soon as possible, he added. Against the backdrop of the Corona, the National Archaeological Department, Savarkar National Memorial Mumbai, Savarkar Utsav Samiti, various social organizations in the city celebrated his birth anniversary in a simple manner.
MP Dr. Bharti Pawar, Shiv Sena district chief Vijay Karanjkar, Mayor Satish Kulkarni, Bagur town chief Anita Karanjkar, Laxman Savji, Girish Palve and others worshipped and offered wreaths to Savarkar’s statue. Retired police officer and office bearer of Savarkar Utsav Samiti Ramesh Pawar, managers of Savarkar Group and Monument Manoj Kumar and others also laid wreaths. Vikram Sonawane, Pramod Ghumre and others were also present on the occasion.
