Ashram school teacher climbs Mount Kilimanjaro

NASHIK: Amrita Bhalerao, a primary school teacher working at Bhilmal Ashram School in Trambakeshwar taluka of Nashik district, hoisted the Indian flag at Mount Kilimanjaro on January 26, 2022. This year marks the 75th anniversary of Indian independence. Various activities were organised on this occasion. On this occasion, Amrita hoisted the flag at Sir Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, South Africa.

Kilimanjaro is the 5th highest mountain in the world with a height of 19,340 feet or 5,484 meters. She is the only woman from India, not just from Maharashtra, to reach this summit on January 26, 2022. It is a matter of pride that she is the first staff member and teacher in the Tribal Development Department to climb Kilimanjaro.

With good wishes from Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Tribal Development Minister Adv K C Padvi, Minister of State Prajakta Tanpure, Secretary, Tribal Development Department. Dr Anupkumar Yadav, Commissioner Hiralal Sonawane, Deputy Commissioner Avinash Chavan, Additional Commissioner of Tribal Development Nashik Sandeep Golait, Nashik Project Officer Vikas Meena and Headmaster Aher, she started climbing Kilimanjaro.

On special note, she had gone abroad alone for the expedition under the guidance of 360 Explorer’s CEO Anand Bansod. To hoist the tricolour on Kilimanjaro’s Uhuru Peak on the 26th January. She started climbing at a temperature of minus 10 to 15 at 11 am on the January 25. After the flag hoisting at Kilimanjaro, she gave a message to all women to live positively.
