NASHIK: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nashik division has trapped those 72 corrupt this year in 54 traps which were laid in North Maharashtra in five months of the current year. With this, Nashik division is in the second position in the state A total of 20 traps were laid in Nashik district. Only 32 traps were laid last year in the corresponding period. Despite the Covid-19 outbreak, there was no reduction in corruption cases.
Last year, 133 government employees were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe. A total of 100 government employees from Nashik, Ahmednagar, Dhule, Nandurbar and Jalgaon were caught red-handed last year while four cases of disproportionate assets were registered. A total of 104 cases had been filed in the last year.
Like last year, highest corruption cases are likely to occur after relaxation in lockdown rules this year too. Though the presence of employees in government offices is thin due to renewed surge in Covid-19 cases this year, a total of 54 traps were laid in the Nashik division so far and a total of 72 corrupt employees were caught.
