NASHIK: In the last three years from 2019 to 2021, under the special re-verification programme, names of 80605 duplicate voters have been omitted, informed District Collector Suraj Mandhare yesterday. As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, a special brief re-verification program of the voter list with photographs based on the eligibility date of January 1, 2022 was announced.
According to a release, a total of 80,605 voters, including 16,704 deceased, 48,024 migrants and 15,877 double entries, have been removed under the special brief programme in the last three years. Also, giving priority to voter list correction programme, all the Voter Registration Officers and Assistant Voter Registration Officers in the district have been informed about the re-verification of duplicate voters through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and following the statutory procedure and deletion of double names. Similarly, instructions have been given to complete the work of voter list correction on time.
District Collector and District Electoral Officer Suraj Mandhare said that additional manpower has been deployed for issuing notices and other necessary work under the voter registration drive. Following the complaints received about duplicate registration in the voter list, action is being taken by the district administration at the taluka level and tehsil office to update the voter list.
