71,94,000 vaccine doses administered in Nashik district

NASHIK: Every organisation around the world is trying their best to combat the pandemic. While fighting the virus, the two vaccines (Covaxin and Covidshield) emerged as a ray of hope for everyone. After going through various trials, the vaccines were finally out on January 16, 2022, for the general public.

As the vaccination drive completed a year in the country and the district, 71, 94,000 citizens got vaccinated in the district within a year. Nashik District ranks fourth in the state in vaccination, after Mumbai, Pune, and Thane. Many citizens suffered a lot during the second wave of the pandemic.

However, according to experts, many citizens are immune now following a decent vaccination rate of the district. Even though the third wave has hit the country and district, due to vaccines’ effect, the recovery rate of patients is also strong, along with the positivity rate. Therefore, the vaccines have helped in fighting the pandemic and lessening the virus’ severity.

When the vaccination process kickstarted a year ago, frontline workers (health workers) and the police department were the first ones to receive the vaccination doses. Till date, a total of 1,93,735 health and other workers have been vaccinated in the district. Also, 1,74,939 frontline workers have been vaccinated till date.

A total of 9,21,239 citizens belonging to the 45 to 60 age group got partially vaccinated in a year, while 6,36,467 citizens of the same age got fully vaccinated in a year. 6,25,735 senior citizens belonging to the age group of 60 and above took the first dose while 4,22,582 got fully vaccinated. A total of 26,12,032 teenagers and adults belonging to the age group of 18 to 44 years took their first dose while 14,54,603 of them took the second dose.

Thus, a total of 44,84,456 citizens of Nashik District took their first doses in a year while 26,89,976 got fully vaccinated in a year. Adding up 19,487 booster doses administered in the district till date, a total of 71,93, 919 vaccine doses have been administered in the district till January 16, 2022.

“While the whole world was working towards finding a cure for Covid-19, India came up with its own vaccine and vaccinated the highest number of citizens than any other nation. These vaccines will definitely help in fighting the virus system. However, everyone should still follow SMS (social distancing, sanitation, and mask).” – District Collector Suraj Mandhare
