NASHIK :

A total of 16.32 lakh quintals of food grain was distributed to 84,36.596 ration card beneficiaries in the period between July 1st to 15th, informed Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Friday and added food grain distribution is going on smoothly from a total of 52,431 ration shops in the state.

Around 9,21,806 quintals of wheat, 7,08,528 quintals of rice and 9,485 quintals of sugar have been distributed under national food security scheme to beneficiaries in the state.

In addition, around 1,87,202 ration card holders who have been migrated but stuck in state have taken food grain under government’s portability scheme.

There are 7 crore beneficiaries who hold ration card under the National Food Security Scheme and Priority Family Beneficiary schemes and benefit of public distribution system is given to them through 52,431 ration shops across state.

Under a scheme to give 5 kg wheat and rice free of cost under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, wheat and rice were distributed free of cost to a total of 9,656 ration cards since July 15. A total of 2,090 quintals of wheat and rice have been distributed to a total of 41,704 beneficiaries of these ration cards.

Under a scheme to give 5 kg rice free of cost per month to beneficiary, 31,57,350 quintals of rice has been distributed to a total of 6,31,47,073 beneficiaries since June 6,13,04,046 quintals of rice has been distributed to beneficiaries holding saffron ration card.

Under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 3,71,159 quintals of tur dal has been distributed in the period between April to June.
