Panchavati : The farmers from Nashik district will go on strike from June 1 to press for implementation of recommendations of Swaminathan Commission and other demands. It was decided in a meeting held at Nashik Agriculture Produce Market Committee that strike will be successful in any condition. It was also decided to use various mediums to create awareness among the farmers about the strike.
Opposition parties, Shiv Sena, various Sanghatanas and social organisations are pressing for loan waiver to the farmers. Despite this government is not taking steps for this. On the backdrop of this, farmers have decided to go on strike from June 1 to press for to write off loan remark on 7/12 extract, implement Swaminathan Commission, provide minimum support price of Rs. 50 to milk, provide electricity free of charge to agriculture pump, provide pension to the farmers after 60 years and provide 1005 grant for drip irrigation.
The meeting of convener committee was held at Nashik APMC to make this strike successful. Various subjects were discussed in it. Office bearers of convener committee and the farmers were present for this meeting.
