COVID-19 : Raj Thackeray questions Guv Koshyari’s demand for holding final yr exams

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray on Tuesday penned a letter to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari asking why he was insisting on holding the final year varsity exams in the State amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

“Why is there this unreasonable demand to hold the final year examinations? Why and for who?,” Mr Thackeray verbally scowled in the letter.

Trying to understand the Governor’s proposition in regards of the academics, he further questioned, “What is the logic behind this. Keeping the health of the students in mind, why shouldn’t the decision be taken to cancel the final year exams in totality?”

Thackeray voiced his concern after the Governor last week objected against the State Minister of Higher & Technical Education Uday Samant for recommending the University Grants Commission to strike off the final year exams.

Koshyari, who as the Governor holds the Chancellor position of all the universities in the State, averred that the Minister Samant’s demand contravenes the guidelines. Subsequently, he also communicated his displeasure over the matter with the Chief Minister Uddhav
