As a timely preventive measure, the district administration has sealed the Malegaon city after it reported five confirmed COVID-19 cases and one fatality stated Collector Suresh Mandhare on Thursday. The administration has become wary since all the confirmed cases have no travel history.
The Collector said that people in Malegaon jurisdiction, distributed among four police stations, have to stay at homes for the next eight days, and added that the unheeded will be prosecuted. After conducting a review meeting with the local administration, he mandated door-to-door checking to spot the pandemic cases, if any.
For this purpose, a team of 400 people have been deployed to inspect every citizen in every house. Prepping up for the unforeseen situation, he apprised that a private hospital has been declared a quarantine facility and if needed private services will also be roped in.
