Nashik: As per a proposal to scrap the contract of NMC’s bio-waste project and file a defamation suit of Rs. 100 crore against the contractor for defaming NMC, Nashik Municipal Corporation has filed a cheating case against concerned contractor in Sarkarwada police station. After filing of criminal case, a defamation suit will be filed in the court, informed the health department.
Two proposals asking to scrap the bio-waste contract of Watergrace company and file a suit of Rs. 100 crore against the company for defamation of NMC were passed in the regime of the then standing committee chairperson Salim Shaikh. It had come to light that health officials were shielding the contractor.
House leader Dinkar Patil had made a demand to the Municipal Commissioner to take action in connection with this. Media also had drawn attention of the administration to this. Taking note of this, former health officer and health superintendent Dr. Vijay Dekate filed the case against Watergrace company as per guidance from legal department at Sarkarwada police station. Inquiry will be made and a process regarding filing of the offence will be completed, informed senior police inspector of Sarkarwada police station Dr. Sitaram Kolhe.
The standing committee had on August 31, 2016 passed a proposal to file a suit of Rs. 100 crore against Chetan Bora of Watergrace Product for defamation of NMC. The committee had also on September 22, 2016 passed a proposal mentioning to scrap bio-waste contract of Watergrace Product.
The case has been filed with police now and a defamation suit will be filed in the court, informed health officer Dr. Sunil Bukane.
